Xiaomi Expected to Launch VR Headset on Monday

Image
Is there anything that Xiaomi cannot do? The company has a range of devices in its portfolio, from a portable mosquito repeller and an electric toothbruth to laptop - and that's just in the last month. Now, the company is expected to launch a VR headset on Monday. The company's General Manager Tang Mu has reportedly confirmed that Xiaomi is working on a virtual reality headset that will be compatible with Google's Daydream platform, which was announced at Google's I/O event last month. Android Headlines reports that Mu said he thinks that this is the best way to provide a VR experience that's optimised for MIUI users. There has been no word about the pricing of this VR headset. The headset is expected to be launched on August 1 as per a teaser posted by the company on Chinese website Weibo, reports Android Headlines. If the company does launch a virtual on August 1, it will join the likes of Samsung, Sony, HTC, and Google, who have developed their own VR headsets -

Pokemon Go for Android is updated; check out the changelist for version .31

Image
An update is now available for those Pokemon Go players sporting an Android flavored handset. The only problem is that version .31 of the game is not yet available from the Google Play Store. Version .29 is what you get right now when loading the game from the Play Store. However, if you're good at following directions, you can click on the sourcelink and download the latest version of Pokemon Go from APKMirror. As for those Pokemon trainers that use an iOS powered device, this very same update is coming your way. Niantic founder John Hanke spoke at Comic-Con in San Diego last week about a future update that will give trainers the ability to trade Pokemon. This is not that update. Still, it does include a number of improvements and bug fixes. The changelist includes: Avatars can now be re-customized from the Trainer profile screen  Adjusted battle move damage values for some Pokémon  Refined certain Gym animations  Improved memory issues  Removed footprints of nearby Pok

Lenovo has launched its own Notebook laptop dubbed Lenovo Air 13 Pro just hours after Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Notebook Air. The Air 13 Pro sports almost similar specs and carries same 4999 yuan ($750) price tag as the Mi Notebook Air and obviously was released by the Chinese company to take on its fellow counterpart’s first notebook. The Lenovo Air 13 Pro clutches a 13.3-inch IPS display and is powered by an Intel I5-6200U processor with 4GB of RAM as well as 256GB ROM. The beautiful notebook is light enough to move about with, weighing in at just 1.29kg with a thickness of 1.48cm which is quite similar to that of the Mi Notebook Air. The Notebook laptop also features 2GB NVIDIA GT940MX graphics card and Lenovo included a new fingerprint recognition feature, something missing in the Mi Notebook Pro. The Lenovo Air 13 Pro laptop is already available for pre-sale registration from online mall Jingdong in China and price starts at 4999 yuan ($750). The price tag will take a slight

Xiaomi MiBook Air Official: 12.5-inch / 13.3-inch models, Powerful Specs, Long Battery Life

Image
It’s been more than a year since we first reported about a possible Xiaomi Notebook. At that time, it seemed impossible that a startup company could extend its reach to the laptop market. But nearly 1.5 years later, the Xiaomi Notebook (Xiaomi MiBook Air) is official and it’s just as good as we all imagined. The Xiaomi Notebook will come in two versions, and just as we reported earlier, the smaller one will feature a 12.5-inch display while the larger model comes with a 13.3-inch display. Both are covered with 7H hard glass. We had repeatedly said that the Xiaomi Notebook will directly rival the premium Apple Macbook range and guess what, during the reveal today, the company made sure it highlighted the fact that the new Xiaomi Notebook is going to best the Macbook in terms of design. Well, first of all, the Xiaomi Notebook is not its official name. The two laptop versions are called the Xiaomi MiBook Air 12.5-inch and the Xiaomi Mibook Air 13.3-inch. So, from now onwards, we will

Like the name suggests, this will be the most powerful Redmi device from the company till date, featuring top-end specs that will rival existing flagship smartphones in the market. The Redmi Pro, like expected, comes with dual cameras at the back, a first for Xiaomi and hopefully something that will continue in upcoming devices. This will ensure that the phone looks like a true flagship, featuring premium and refined design. "Official" BlackBerry Neon render leaks

Image
An image that is said to be an official render of the BlackBerry Neon, might be giving us a clue as to when we might see the handset introduced by the company. It's an old trick to be sure, but in many cases the date used on the official render will turn out to be the exact date that the phone is introduced. In this case, we could see BlackBerry's latest Android flavored handset greet the light of day on August 20th. Only problem here is that this this date turns out to be a Saturday, so we will have to wait and see what develops. The Neon, rumored to be a re-branded Alcatel Idol 4, has the same specs as the latter device. That means it is equipped with a 5.2-inch display carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution. Powering the unit is the Snapdragon 617 chipset featuring an octa-core 1.7GHz CPU and the Adreno 405 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of native storage. On back you will find a 13MP camera with a front-facing 8MP camera available to snap selfies and handle video ch

Image
Google wants to ensure protection and security of mobile phone users and the company has started rolling out an update from Tuesday that will help you block and report spam callers. The company's Nexus account said via a Google+ post that it is updating the Google Phone app with spam protection. The company said that "If you already have Caller ID turned on, spam protection will be available on your phone once your app updates to the latest version," in its post. However, this new security update is only making its way to Nexus and Android One phones as of now. In its post, the company did not specify if the update will make its way to other Android devices in future. On its support page regarding spam protection, the search giant specifies: "To use caller ID & spam protection, your phone may need to send information about your calls to Google." The company says that the Caller ID and spam protection is switched on by default in your phone but you can cho

Real Photos and Price of Mi Notebook Leaks

Image
We’ve been getting bits and pieces over the past few weeks about the Mi Notebook, but what we have today is more than bits and pieces. It’s a real life image to whet your appetite. A real life image of a man using what appears to be the Xiaomi Mi Notebook was posted online today. The image shows the side view of an all-metal PC which fits the description of the Mi Notebook, although the Mi logo is not visible. The picture also shows the Mi Notebook sporting very thin bezels. From the image we can confirm it will indeed have a USB Type-C port for charging. There’s also a full size port beside it which should probably USB 3.0. Another picture shows a close-up view of the arrow keys which also double as page keys and home and end keys. Previous leaks revealed the price and a new bunch of specs. The standard version will cost 3999 Yuan (roughly $600) and will feature a low power Intel Core-i5 processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage. The Mi Notebook Pro on the other hand

Lenovo K5 Note India Variant to Sport 4GB of RAM, Company Tips

Image
We know Lenovo is set to launch the K5 Note in India on August 1. Over the weekend however, the company revealed that a new variant of the smartphone is coming to the country, with 4GB of RAM instead of the 2GB of RAM seen on the standard variant launched in China in January. Lenovo India's Twitter handle on Friday posted a tweet that read, "With so much RAM at your disposal, the only thing you'll worry about on the #KillerNote5 is running out of apps," and followed it up with a similar tweet on Saturday that once again pointed to the presence of 4GB of RAM on the Lenovo K5 Note. To recall, the Lenovo K5 Note was priced at CNY 1,099 (approximately Rs. 11,350) for its 2GB of RAM variant in China, and we can expect the price to be significantly higher if the 4GB of RAM variant is indeed launched in India instead. The Lenovo K5 Note packs a lot of improvements over the K4 Note such as an all-metal body. Another highlight feature of the handset is its fingerprint scan

Xiaomi’s Mijia Brand Launches 19 Yuan Mi Pen

Image
Xiaomi’s sub brand, Mijia, launched a refillable pen today called the Mi Pen with a price tag of 19 Yuan ($2.85). Surprised? We are too. Xiaomi said all their smart home products will come under the Mijia brand name, but is this pen smart? No, it isn’t. It also doesn’t magically store all what you write but it still falls under home products sort of, so that counts, right? The pen uses Swiss PREMEC Refills with quick drying Japanese mikuni ink, which doesn’t fade easily or break. Mijia says the ink does not easily dry up even if you do not use the pen for a long time. The pen comes in white and black colour options, has a diameter of 9.5mm to ensure it offers a comfortable grip while writing, and also features a 120° spin which reveals or hides the pen’s 0.5mm high-precision tungsten ball tip. Mijia has taken great care in manufacturing the parts of the pen. The connectors are made out of metal and the rotating member is made of copper which has a life span of 50,000 rotat

Wallpapers of Galaxy Note 7 Leaked

Image
We all love wallpapers but we love changing them more. The wallpaper on our phones sometimes reflect our mood or the kind of person we are. Our phones usually ship with a bunch of wallpapers from the factory. Sometimes these wallpapers are really beautiful, other times they are just meh. So if you are itching for a bunch of factory wallpapers to spice up your phone you should probably check out these Galaxy Note 7 wallpapers leaked by Sir Hydarnes. Leaked Images Of the Redmi Pro Reveal Brushed Metal Body

Image
Thanks to the numerous leaks, rumors and further coverage of the Redmi Pro and the Xiaomi Notebook, there would hardly be any fans on the internet who are unaware about the July 27 conference from Xiaomi next week. Recently, there has been so much information about these two products that Gizmochina’s majority of the Chinese news coverage have been focused on these two devices. Just a few minutes back, we reported that Xiaomi Redmi Pro is confirmed to feature Helio X25 deca-core chip and dual cameras. Now, real life images of the Redmi Pro’s metal back have just surfaced online, giving us a better look at the upcoming handset. Like what we saw in the earlier leak, the new images confirm that the phone will come with a brushed metal body. This is definitely a change from the smooth metal finish on previous Redmi models that have been announced by the company. Since we have seen that there is no fingerprint sensor at the back, it would most likely end up on the front, embedded i
