Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core SoC spotted at TENNA; will this model come to India?

Image
Its' been only a little over a month since the Redmi Note 3 made its debut. Now, a report has emerged that Xiaomi is prepping to unveil a new variant soon. An un-named Xiaomi device has been spotted at TENNA, a Chinese government owned telecommunication certifying agency website. The document, now available with Xiaomi community blog  Enmiui,  shows a snapshot of a device featuring brushed-metal finish body with finger-print sensor below the camera on the rear-side. This mystery smartphone has an uncanny resemblance to the recently unveiled Redmi Note 3. It also shares some of the specifications of the latter model. It boasts 5.5-inch full HD display and 2GB RAM, but differs in two departments -- camera and processor. The unnamed Xiaomi houses 16MP camera on the back and inside it comes packed with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core SoC (System on Chip). Whereas the Redmi Note 3 features 13MP primary snapper and MediaTek Helio X10 Octa-core CPU. This news may di

Lenovo K4 Note To Feature Killer Display, Will It Be 2K?

Image
Lenovo, the Chinese smartphone maker has been teasing its upcoming Lenovo K4 Note as a “Killer Device”. We already know for sure that the phone will feature 3GB of RAM on board. Fingerprint ID and even NFC is confirmed on the device. Now, Lenovo has just teased that the phone will feature a ‘Killer Display’. While the term Killer Display is a bit vague, the hype created by the company seems to hint that the phone will come with a 2K resolution display. This is what the company said in its tweet. “When is a display more than just a sum of its pixels?Get ready to thrill your senses with the K4 Note#KillerNote201 6″ The display is expected to be the same size as its predecessor, the Lenovo K3 Note, around 5.5-inches. The company also released a teaser video in a tweet earlier today, which can be seen from down below. Xiaomi To Release A High-End $460 Smartphone In 2016

Image
As of now, Xiaomi has established a strong presence in the budget and mid-range smartphone segments, both in China as well as some international markets. However, as many of you would already know, the margin in the low-end segment is close to nothing, which means those who primarily operate in these markets are not going to make much, despite selling in millions. As a result, it becomes necessary for companies to extend its products over a wide price range, which is something that we have not yet seen from Xiaomi. Yes, many of you would argue that the company has the Xiaomi Mi Note lineup in the high-end segment. But the series isn’t as popular as its other products, and the increased competition in the upper mid-range market from companies like Samsung, Huawei and Apple is not really helping the company. Xiaomi had previously hinted that it will enter the high-end smartphone market with amazing products in the coming months. Now, Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO has revealed in an inte

Latest speculation about the LG G5 includes secondary screen, dual rear cameras and the Magic Slot

Image
According to an anonymous source, the LG G5 will take some features from the LG V10 and the LG G4 to become a well-spec'd beast. The main screen will be 5.3-inches, smaller than the 5.5-inch display on the LG G4. This screen will have a 1440 x 2560 resolution. On top will be a secondary screen sporting a resolution of 160 x 1040, similar to the ticker display found on the LG V10. On the back of the phone will be a 16MP camera with a second lens on the back. This will give the camera the capability to snap 135-degree wide-angle pictures. There will be a dual LED flash along with a laser autofocus. An 8MP front-facing camera will shoot selfies and handle video chats while a fingerprint sensor will be on the back. The design will be similar to the fingerprint reader that adorns the rear of the Nexus 5X. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 820 chipset, which features a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. 3GB of RAM will be inside along with 32GB of internal storage. It is unclear

Lenovo May Launch Samsung's Exynos 8870 SoC Based Device in 2016: Report

Image
Following reports from earlier this month about Samsung making a new SoC for third-party manufacturers, Lenovo is now reported to be planning to use Samsung's yet-to-be-launched Exynos 8870 processor in one of its devices. The news comes from a China-based source who claims that Lenovo is one of the new clients of the Samsung's upcoming chipset. There are no further details about the unknown Lenovo device packing the Eynos 8870 SoC. A recent report had tipped that Meizu's flagship Pro 6 may also pack Samsung's unannounced Exynos 8870 processor. Details of the Samsung's Exynos 8870 are scarce at the moment but it is likely to be a less powerful variant of the high-end Exynos 8 Octa 8890 system-on-chip (SoC), which was set to go into mass production by late 2015. Meizu was also said to the first handset maker to utilise the new Exynos 8870 processor in its next flagship smartphone, the Meizu Pro 6. This however seems to be untrue as Lenovo has started making wa

Nubia Will Launch A New Flagship or Its International Website On Jan 5

Image
With the year coming to an end, many manufacturers have begun preparing their announcements for 2016 and today Nubia posted a teaser image on their Weibo page teasing either a new smartphone, possibly the Nubia Z11 flagship, or the company’s international official website. The teaser image reads “Hello, World. January 5, the new release!” and has a background of a silhouette of an unknown smartphone and part of the earth from outer space. Based on previous rumors and reports, the teaser image could possibly be teasing the company’s upcoming next-generation Z11 flagship or the launch of the company’s official international website as the company recently purchased the Nubia.com domain for a whopping $2 million. If the company is planning on unveil the Nubia Z11 on January 5, 2016, previous rumors have revealed that it will feature a full-metal design, 4GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel main camera, a 5.2-inch 2K resolution display, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. If it does l

Redmi 3 Hits TENAA With A Metal Body & 5-inch Screen

Image
Xiaomi’s Redmi lineup is due for an update next year and looks like we have already got a glimpse of the upcoming Redmi 3 smartphone. The phone just passed through TENAA recently with the model number 2015815, revealing most of its specifications as well as the design. The TENAA listing reveals that the Redmi 3 will feature a similar design as the Remi Note 3. The device seems to come with an all metal body, much like its elder sibling. So, it looks like Xiaomi is going to start a trend of releasing metal clad Redmi smartphones in the coming months. It’s not the thinnest of smartphones in the market, measuring 8.5mm, but it’s pretty decent for its size. Moreover, like the Redmi Note 3, we may see a large battery inside the device, which will justify its thickness. As for the specs, the Redmi 3 handset will feature a 5-inch 720p display with an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It could either be the Snapdragon 616 chip or the new Helio P10 MT6755 chip. There will be 2GB o

Intel Will Provide A Special Deal to Xiaomi For Its Laptop Chipset

Image

So, we can expect more and more Xiaomi’s smartphones and other devices equipped with Intel chipsets. Well, going with Intel has been a wise decision after all as Xiaomi is targeting international markets now and its partnership with Intel will really help Xiaomi in its future endeavors. According to industry insiders this Xiaomi – Intel collaboration will open a world of opportunities for both. If reports are to be believed then Intel might soon be supplying processors at highly discounted rates to Xiaomi which in turn will help Intel to explore new markets which it has been trying for past couple of years. Now moving on Xiaomi’s upcoming laptop, which has been in the news for past couple of months with numerous leaks on the internet, might be launched sometime in the first quarter in 2016 Reports suggest that there

Duke Nukem Games Deeply Discounted, to Be Removed From GOG Soon

Image
Alternative DRM-free PC game digital distribution platform GOG.com currently has a sale on the Duke Nukem series. The original Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem 2 (sold as a single package), Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition, pinball spin-off Balls of Steel, and Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project are all heavily discounted. They usually cost $5.99 (around Rs. 400) a piece. However they're now $1.49 (almost Rs. 99) each. And if you buy all of them together, you'll pay a mere $2.36 (approximately Rs. 157). The reason for this fire sale is that the publisher 3D Realms does not own the rights to the franchise. This is a result of a settlement in August of an intellectual property lawsuit involving 3D Realms, Interceptor Entertainment, and Borderlands hitmaker Gearbox Software that resulted in Gearbox claiming full rights to all things Duke Nukem. "On that day [December 31, 2015], all Duke Nukem games on GOG.com will be removed from our catalog, but we are in talks with the new rights hol

Xiaomi Mi 5 Video Leaked along with HD Pictures, Seems Like The Real Deal

Image
In the past couple of months, we have come across some great looking Xiaomi Mi 5 Renders. However, it looks like the one leaked recently could be the real Xiaomi Mi 5 as we have seen multiple leaked renders with the same design. But if you had some doubts about the machine being real, here’s a leaked Xiaomi Mi 5 video which will cast them away. Looks like the Xiaomi Mi 5 with the oblong home button at the bottom could be the final design that we will see this February. The video shows off the smartphone running on MIUI 7, which was released a couple of months ago. The bezels are super thin and the phone looks pretty good. From the leaked Xiaomi Mi 5 video, it looks like the phone is quite large, somewhere around 5.5-inches, which will make it bigger than its previous generation which featured a 5-inch screen. The overall design has an uncanny resemblance with the Xiaomi Mi Note series. Except for a few changes like the physical home button, design wise, they look simi

You say, "OK Google, turn on the flashlight" and all off a sudden there is a light coming from your phone. You can thank Google for helping you guide your way in the dark. Google has added nine new voice commands to the Android version of the Google Now app. The flashlight command is but one of them. You can now turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on or off by simply saying "Turn Wi-Fi (Bluetooth) on" or "Turn Wi-Fi (Bluetooth) off." After both of those commands, your phone will take you to a shortcut where you can turn on or off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth by using a toggle switch. Another new voice command, "Read my messages," will result in your last five SMS messages showing up on the screen. Google will then ask if you want the five read out loud. If you want an

Sagat Won't Appear in Street Fighter V, Says Yoshinori Ono

Image
Sagat has appeared in every iteration of the Street Fighter fighting video game series since its start in 1987, but he is not going to be part of Street Fighter V, executive producer Yoshinori Ono said. "It's because there are many characters that perform similarly. For this launch and its next update, we wanted to have a good balance of characters. Since we didn't want to just blindly increase the number of characters, it was a bitter decision that had to be made," Ono told Japanese gaming blog Hachima. Sagat was initially a "boss" character in early editions of the game, but became a playable character starting with 1992's Street Fighter II': Champion Edition. His story with series protagonist Ryu has done a 180-degree turn over the years, going from enemy to calling him a friend in 2008's Street Fighter IV. Ono noted that fans have taken a liking to these characters, and there remains a "possibility" going forward that Capco

Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4 & Mi Note Soon Getting MIUI 7 on Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Image
At the start of this month, we   reported that Xiaomi was going to release Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for a few of its devices  like Xiaomi Mi 4, Mi Note and even Mi 3. Now, the MIUI operations manager of Xiaomi has revealed that the update is in its final stages. It’s like a Christmas gift for all those users who were waiting to get the taste of the newest Android 6.0 operating system on their devices. He revealed that the update validation is almost finalized and the version will soon be released. The release could be as soon as tonight. In this regard, he even released a screenshot showing off MIUI 5.12.24 update based on Android 6.0. Back when Xiaomi unveiled the brand new MIUI 7 ROM, many fans were disappointed to see that most of the devices which were going to get the new update would be stuck on Android 4.4, instead of Lollipop. At that time, Xiaomi had said that users shouldn’t be worried about the Android version as the features of the MIUI 7 would be the same on a

Xiaomi Mi 5 Patent Docs May Have Confirmed The Phone’s Design

Image
Yesterday, we saw a new  render of the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship,  with an oblong shaped home button. It was much wider than the buttons seen on initial renders. Now, it looks like the render could be the final design as a number of patent documents leaked earlier today come with a similar design. Further, we have seen a couple of real life images of the device with such a design. First off, the patent docs reveal the overall design of the Mi 5 flagship. There seems to be a lot of similarity between the Mi Note series and Mi 5 flagship. The bezels on the sides are pretty thin, which is definitely a good sign. At the bottom, there’s the USB Type-C port along with dual speaker grills beside the port. Like previous rumors states, the phone looks to be made out of a metal body. Also, the overall body seems to be pretty thin as well. From the image above, it looks like the Mi 5 will have a curved back. We have also got a couple of real life images of the Mi 5 flagship with the same de

Another Xiaomi Mi 5 Render Emerge, This Time With A Weird Looking Home Button

Image
As 2015 comes to an end, Xiaomi fans are getting excited. Sometime early next year, probably as soon as January, Xiaomi is expected to unveil its newest flagship smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 5 more than a year after the release of its last model, the Mi 4. Much to the fan’s delight, we have seen many renders of the Xiaomi Mi 5 till now, and today, we can add one more to the list. Earlier today, a couple of images of the Xiaomi Mi 5 surfaced on the Micro-blogging website, Weibo. Like one of the earlier leaked render, this set of images showed that the Mi 5 will probably end up looking like its brother, the Mi Note. In fact, from the image, we can say that the phone is just a smaller version of the Note series models which were launched back in January. One of the highlights of the render is the home button below the display. Its not square or even perfect oval, rather a oblong shaped button, unlike anything we have seen before. Not really, the prettiest looking button that we have seen

LG G5 leak points towards metal body and dual camera setup, among other interesting developments

Image
Fans of LG smartphones are in for a treat, as today may be the first time we catch a glimpse of a prototype LG G5, along with a purported spec sheet. Coming in courtesy of Reddit user  mobile_leaks , the list drips with heavyweight hardware. Although everyone can put together something like that and throw it on the Internet nowadays, mr. Leaks really seems to be in on the good stuff. Apparently, he has a prototype unit inside a black case, which obscures the design to prevent leaks... how ironic! Let's go through the main points of interest, shall we? A full metal body is claimed, and shiny material is visible through the holes in the prototype casing. Mr. Leaks also claims that the phone probably has no removable battery, but there's still a microSD slot.  "This is the device for people who want to upgrade from LG G2"  - he remarked. Speaking of which, the LG G5 supposedly has a 5.3-inch display. Mind you, other leaks have described a 5.5-inch or 5.6-i

iPhone 7 Purported Images Leak, No More Home Button

Image
Reports of Apple Inc. working on next flagship in the pipeline iPhone 7 has emerged some time back but nothing was confirmed back then. After immense success and popularity of iPhone 6 and 6S Apple is trying something new with iPhone 7. New images of a smartphone purported to be the upcoming iPhone 7 has leaked from inside a manufacturing unit which further reveals that Home Button is no more part of iPhone. The leaked images reveal the frontal design and the Home key is missing which further indicates that Apple iPhone 7 will bear a whole new design and feel. We can see the Apple logo on the back panel. Apple is looking to gain technological high grounds by integrating fingerprint recognition into the touch screen which will set it apart from other smartphones in the coming year. Although, the authenticity of these images are not established but this gives us insight about what we can expect from upcoming iPhones.

6 high-end smartphones to look forward to in the first half of 2016

Image
With less than two weeks left until the end of 2015, it's probably safe to say that all relevant smartphone-related announcements of this year have already been made. But that's OK, because the new year is going to bring us lots of handsets starting the very first months, as there will be two major events held in January (CES 2016) and February (MWC 2016).  Judging by what happened in early 2015, the first half of 2016 should bring us plenty of high-end smartphones - we're guessing that most, if not all of them will run Android (since Apple traditionally launches flagship iPhones in September, and we haven't heard of any high-end Windows or BlackBerry handsets that are expected to arrive in the near future). Based on rumors and realistic expectations, we've complied a list of high-end smartphones (from well known companies) that will, most likely, hit shelves in the first half of next year. Check out the phones below, in alphabetical order: 1. Asus ZenFone 3 W
