Specs for next-generation Motorola Moto E leak?

The specs for two new Motorola handsets have been revealed thanks to a trip taken by the pair through the GFXBench benchmark site, We know that these are Motorola handsets and not Lenovo branded phones thanks to the model numbers. Both devices (XT1700 and XT1706) have traditional Motorola model numbers consisting of the letters "XT" followed by four numbers.

The XT1700 features a 5-inch screen with a 720 x 1280 HD resolution. The MediaTek MT6735P SoC is under the hood with a quad-core 1GHz CPU and the Mali-T720 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of native storage. An 8MP camera adorns the back of the unit, with a 5MP snapper in front for selfies and video chats. The XT1706 carries the same exact specs, and both phones have Android 6.0 pre-installed.

Considering the specs employed on both models, we could be looking at the third-generation Motorola Moto E. The second-generation Motorola Moto E comes with a 4.5-inch screen with a 540 x 960 qHD resolution. The Snapdragon 410 CPU is on board containing a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU, and the Adreno 306 GPU. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 8GB of native storage. A 5MP camera is on back while the .3MP front-facing camera takes selfies and handles video chats.

The XT1700 and XT1706 are enough of an upgrade from the second-generation Moto E to be the next version of the entry-level Moto phone.
